Grants to Illinois nonprofit organizations and IHEs for a range of health-related projects that benefit communities within the funding source’s service area. Funding is intended to enhance patient care services, provide healthcare education, and support research projects that advance medicine. Projects must benefit communities in Central Illinois.

Term of Contract:

- Non-research grants last one year from date of award. Extensions will not be granted.
- Research grants involving human or animal subjects last two years from date of award. Extensions will not be granted.
- Absent extraordinary circumstances, awarded grants have an effective date of June 1.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The Foundation awards grants only to Memorial Health System affiliates and departments, local institutions of higher education, and central Illinois organizations with 501(c)(3) status in communities served by Memorial Health System whose missions or grant projects are aligned with Memorial’s healthcare mission.

- Individuals are not eligible for grants.
- Incentives and awards are not eligible for grant funding.
- The Foundation will not award grants to fund an organization’s operating and administrative expenses.

Grants will not be considered for the following:
- Private foundations
- Organizations not determined by the IRS to be a tax-exempt public charity under 501(c)(3)
- Organizations classified by the IRS as 509 (a)(3)
- National or regional organizations, unless their programs address specific local community needs
- Programs or initiatives where the primary purpose is the promotion of religious doctrine or tenets
- Elementary or secondary schools (except to provide special initiatives or programs not provided by regular school budgets)
- Political action or legislative advocacy groups
- Endowment funds
- Multiple-year campaigns

The Foundation does not cover indirect costs.

Memorial Medical Center Foundation will not engage in philanthropic giving to organizations which the Foundation finds discriminate against a person or group because of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age or marital status.

Pre-Application Information:

Applications are due March 1, 2021.

The Foundation will follow-up with you about your submission by email.

If your application is for research requiring Institutional Review Board approval involving human or animal subjects, a copy of SCRIHS or IUCAC approval letter must accompany the application.

Applications to fund equipment require a quote for said equipment accompany the application.

Typically, the Foundation reimburses the applicant’s organization upon receipt of proper documentation reflecting expenditures that were approved by the grant award.
