Awards to recognize New Mexico youth for outstanding performances of piano or string instrument concertos. Applicants must be between 10 and 21 years old. Applicants must choose one movement from an approved repertoire list to present. Cash awards will be given in each division for first, second, and third-place winners.

First Prize in each division will be $2,000 and a Symphony Concert Performance with the New Mexico Philharmonic. First, Second, and Third Place cash awards will be given in each division.

- This is a concerto competition.
- Music must be selected from the 2019 Approved Repertoire List.
- Applicant must be at least 10 years of age but no older than 21 as of the application deadline date of December 7, 2018.
Music Eligibility: One movement of a concerto selected from the 2019 approved repertoire list. It must be written originally for that instrument and be performed from memory at the competition, with piano accompaniment.
First-place winners in each division must agree to perform their winning concerto movement at the Music Guild of New Mexico’s membership luncheon in March 2019 and with the New Mexico Philharmonic on May 25, 2019. Winners must also be available for all New Mexico Philharmonic rehearsals.
Please note: A $50 non-refundable entry fee, payable to JMYAC, must accompany the application.
Entry deadline for all materials is December 7, 2018. All applicants will receive notification via e mail by January 11, 2019.
Competition will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 in the recital hall at Robertson & Sons Violin Shop, Inc., 3201 Carlisle Blvd. NE Albuquerque 87110.
