Music Guild of New Mexico (MGNM)
Awards to recognize New Mexico youth for outstanding performances of piano or string instrument concertos. Applicants must be between 13 and 18 years old. Applicants must choose one movement from an approved repertoire list to present. Cash awards will be given in each division for first-, second-, and third-place winners.

There will be a first, second, and third-place winner in both the Piano and String Instrument division.
First Prize in each division will be $2,000 and a Symphony Concert Performance with the New Mexico Philharmonic. A scholarship to the Texas Strings Camp and Festival in June 2018 will also be awared. First- Second- and Third-Place cash awards will be given in each division.
- New Mexico resident.
- Applicant must be at least 13 years of age as of the application deadline date and no older than a senior in high school.
- Former first-place winners of the JMYAC are not eligible.
Music Eligibility: One movement of a concerto selected from the attached 2018 approved repertoire list. It must be written originally for that instrument and be performed from memory at the competition, with piano accompaniment.
Please note: A $50 non-refundable entry fee, payable to JMYAC, must accompany the application.
The application deadline is December 8, 2017. The application may be hand delivered or sent by mail as long as it is received by December 8, 2017.
All applicants will receive notification via e-mail by January 12, 2018.
The Music Guild of New Mexico will present the annual Jackie McGehee Young Artists’ Competition for Piano and Strings on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Keller Hall, in the Center for Fine Arts on the UNM campus.
