Grants to Muskogee, Oklahoma nonprofit organizations, churches, schools, and local government agencies to improve the lives of local residents. LOIs are due September 15, 2017. Program areas include economic development, health and wellness, quality of life, and education and empowerment.

1) Economic Development

Priority consideration will be given to programs, projects, and initiatives that relate to:
-Quality job creation, retention, and higher wages;
-Promotion of destination tourism;
-Long-term capital and infrastructure investments for the citizens of the City of Muskogee;
-Opportunities that increase tax revenues to the City of Muskogee.

2) Education and Empowerment

Priority consideration will be given to programs, projects and initiatives that:
-Encourage personal and leadership development;
-Build character, life, and career skills;
-Address early intervention for learning;
-Lead to increased high school graduation and retention rates;
-Encourage the integration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM);
-Support parental involvement;
-Address the needs of at-risk student populations;
-Quality out-of-school programming working in collaboration with other successful programs;
-Provide scholarships and support for individuals seeking post-secondary education.

3) Health and Wellness

Priority consideration will be given to programs, projects, and initiatives that relate to:
-Tobacco prevention;
-Obesity reduction through increased physical activity and better nutrition;
-Children’s health, including child abuse prevention;
-Elimination of generational poverty;
-Teen pregnancy prevention;
-Physical, mental and emotional needs of at-risk populations;
-Quality health programs working in collaboration with other successful or established programs.

4) Quality of Life

Priority consideration will be given to programs, projects and initiatives that relate to:
-Entertainment, arts and culture;
-Safety and security;
-Beautification and preservation;
-Collaborative efforts and priorities as identified by the Action In Muskogee (AIM) initiative and the City of Muskogee (i.e., downtown development).

Programs and projects must occur primarily during the summer months to qualify for the Summer Grant Process.

Grants are made to nonprofit organizations, churches, schools and the City of Muskogee.

Deadlines for 2018 Summer Program Grants:

- Letter of Inquiry due September 15, 2017
- Application (requires Foundation invitation) due December 1, 2017
- Grant decisions - March 26, 2018 City of Muskogee Foundation Board Meeting
- Grant funds distributed - April 2018 (pending Grant Agreement)

The entire grant process will be coordinated electronically beginning with the Letter of Inquiry (LOI). The LOI gathers basic information about the applicant, a short description of the purpose of the program or project, and amount requested. This part of the application should be compelling enough to capture the attention of the grant committee while being brief and clear. If accepted by the grants committees, the applicant will be notified via e-mail with a link to access the full grant application.

Following the approval of the letter of inquiry, the applicant will be sent a link via e-mail to access the grant application for their designated focus area (economic development, education, and empowerment, health and wellness, quality of life). The formal application process is also coordinated electronically allowing the applicant to complete the actual application and attach all required documents.
