Grants to Muskogee, Oklahoma nonprofit organizations, churches, schools, and local government agencies to improve the lives of local residents. LOIs are due February 15. Program areas include economic development, health and wellness, education, quality of life, and education and empowerment.

1) Economic Development

Priority consideration will be given to programs, projects, and initiatives that relate to:
-Quality job creation, retention and higher wages;
-Promotion of destination tourism;
-Long-term capital and infrastructure investments for the citizens of the City of Muskogee;
-Opportunities that increase tax revenues to the City of Muskogee.

2) Education & Empowerment

Priority consideration will be given to programs, projects and initiatives that:
-Encourage personal and leadership development;
-Build character, life and career skills;
-Address early intervention for learning;
-Lead to increased high school graduation and retention rates;
-Encourage the integration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM);
-Support parental involvement;
-Address the needs of at-risk student populations;
-Quality out-of-school programming working in collaboration with other successful programs;
-Provide scholarships and support for individuals seeking post-secondary education.

3) Health and Wellness

Priority consideration will be given to programs, projects and initiatives that relate to:
-Tobacco prevention;
-Obesity reduction through increased physical activity and better nutrition;
-Children’s health, including child abuse prevention;
-Elimination of generational poverty;
-Teen pregnancy prevention;
-Physical, mental and emotional needs of at-risk populations;
-Quality health programs working in collaboration with other successful or established programs.

4) Quality of Life

Priority consideration will be given to programs, projects and initiatives that relate to:
-Entertainment, arts and culture;
-Safety and security;
-Beautification and preservation;
-Collaborative efforts and priorities as identified by the Action In Muskogee (AIM) initiative and the City of Muskogee (i.e., downtown development).

Multi-year grants are available.

Acquiring funding in future years will be contingent upon measured outcomes and other qualitative information as evidenced in the evaluation reports. All multi-year grants will be contingent upon measured outcomes that meet or exceed expectations.

Grants are made to nonprofit organizations, churches, schools and the City of Muskogee.

Timeline:
-Letter of Inquiry due February 15, 2017
-Application (requires Foundation invitation) due April 25, 2017
-Grant decisions - June 26, 2017 City of Muskogee Foundation Board meeting.
-Grant funds distributed - July 2017 - June 2018 (pending Grant Agreement).

The grant application procedure is a two-step online process starting with a letter of inquiry.

The grant application also requires the completion of a budget template. All applying organizations must submit a budget for the program/project in this format in addition to their online grant application.
