Recreation (NB) New Brunswick
Grants of up to $5,000 to New Brunswick nonprofit organizations and municipalities for programs that will aid people with disabilities and help allow them to participate in physical activities. Funding is intended to support physical activity programs and infrastructure that achieves the guidelines of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, as outlined by the Public Health Agency of Canada.
Priority will be given to first-time applicants, and for longer-term activities for individual applicants.
Individual applicants can request funding for any expenses related to these activities that impede one's ability to implement or maintain a healthy lifestyle. Examples of appropriate requests include funding to reduce program fees, purchase new equipment, cover transportation costs or perform facility upgrades. One-time events and tournaments are ineligible for funding.
Communities and organizations can request funding for any expenses related to these activities that impede their ability to implement or maintain programs that support healthy lifestyles. Examples of appropriate requests include those for reducing program fees, equipment needs, transportation expenses and facility upgrades.

New Brunswickers living with a permanent disability and New Brunswick communities and organizations looking to support those living with a permanent disability are eligible to apply for the Inclusive Recreation Activity Fund.
The World Health Organization defines a disability as “any restriction or lack of ability to perform an activity due to impairment.”
One-off events and tournaments are not eligible for funding.
Applications for 2018-19 are now available.
Application deadlines for 2018-2019 are August 17, 2018 and January 18, 2019. The Inclusive Recreation Activity Fund Selection Committee will meet to review applications and allocate a total of $5,000 following both of these dates. All applications must be accompanied by a letter of intent detailing the request and its potential benefits.

The Activity Fund Selection Committee will consider all applications and select requests that best reflect a long-term commitment toward improving access to physical activity programming and/or recreation opportunities. Priority will be given to first time applicants and Recreation NB membership. All funds will be made payable to the community or organization supporting the approved project.
