Grants to Washington nonprofit organizations for programs that benefit the residents of Skagit County across all areas of need. Applicants must submit an LOI prior to applying. Priority is given to established services and programs that have a track record of making a difference. Grants awarded in the past include family support centers, art museums, youth services, adult day programs, Washington Special Olympics, and animal services. The Foundation prefers grants that benefit Skagit County but will grant outside the county as well.

Estimated Size of Grant:

For requests at the $10,000 level and above, organizational budgets and financial statements will be required. Donor advised funders may recommend funding at different levels.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligibility Requirements:
- 501(c)(3) designation by the IRS
- Project likely to be successful, and falls within the scope of the organization’s charitable mission.
- Responsible Board of Directors serving without compensation
- Financial health in good order with up-to-date IRS Form 990
- Serving Skagit County​

Not funded:
- Religious organizations
- Organizations that espouse any form of discrimination against individuals
- Endowments not held at the Skagit Community Foundation
- Production of books, films or videos
- Conference or seminars
- Debt reduction
- Fundraising

Pre-Application Information:

The LOI deadline is February 1, 2020, and notice of approval or rejection of LOIs will be issued by February 7th. Grant applications must be submitted by March 1st.

The Board of Directors will approve grants at the Board meeting in April, and notifications will be sent within two weeks.
