Grants of up to $10,000 to Alaska nonprofit organizations and local governmental agencies (including tribal agencies) for programs and projects that directly benefit those suffering from mental illness, Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia, developmental disabilities, chronic alcoholism and other substance related disorders, and/or traumatic brain injuries.

Funding will be provided for new and innovative program ideas, as well as for enhancements and improvements to existing programs. Please note that if these funds will be used as seed money to start a program, the grant request must include a realistic sustainability plan to continue the program after the grant ends.

Up to $10,000

Eligibility:

Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, local governmental agencies (including tribal agencies) that serve Trust beneficiaries. Beneficiaries of the Trust include the following broad groups of Alaskans with:

- Mental illness
- Developmental disabilities
- Chronic alcoholism and other substance related disorders
- Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia
- Traumatic brain injuries

The Trust also works in prevention and early intervention services for individuals at risk of becoming beneficiaries. The Trust considers prevention of these conditions, where possible, to be part of its mandate.

Funding will be provided for the following types of eligible projects/programs:

- Pilot Projects
- Capital Projects
- Prevention Projects
- Training for Beneficiaries

Ineligible Requests:

- Other Training (i.e., requests for staff training or conferences)
- Operating Funds
- Continuation Funding
- Vehicles/Fuel

Applications are accepted three times per calendar year. Applications must be completed and received by the Trust office no later than 4:30 p.m. on the following dates:

March 1
July 1
November 1

Note: any applications received after the deadline will be held and considered in the next group of applications, unless withdrawn by the applicant.
