Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $30,000 to Canada incorporated or registered organizations that represent artists to develop and promote new markets for works by Canadian artists. Applicants must register at least 30 days before submitting an application. Eligible activities include travel in order to build a national presence for the artist.

Travel must be within Canada, at least 300 kilometers from your place of departure. You can apply for single or several destinations within one trip and for multiple trips within one application, to:

-Formally represent and promote Canadian artists (i.e. through a contractual relationship);
-Build on an existing tour (for artists' representatives only)

Eligible Expenses:

-Transportation costs generally based on fixed amounts;
-Accommodation and per diem, up to five days per trip;
-Additional shipping or baggage costs directly related to your activity, up to $2,500;
-Conference fees and booth rental costs for market development events.

-Support groups, organizations and shared platforms
-Artist-run centers
-Magazine publishers
-Agencies, management service organizations and art dealers

Your eligibility to apply to this component is determined by the validated profile created in the portal.

You may not apply for activities that occur before your departure date, those that receive funding from another Canada Council program or those on the general list of ineligible activities. Pre-Application Information:

You may submit an application any time before your departure date. You must have a validated applicant profile to apply.

You are encouraged to speak with a Canada Council Program Officer before submitting an application to this component for the first time.

If you have not already done so, you must register in the portal at least 30 days before you want to apply.

Each year (1 March – 28/29 February), you can apply to this component four times and receive a maximum of $30,000.

Notifications are usually issued within two months of the application date.

May 23, 2018 will receive results in September 2018
July 11, 2018 will receive results in October 2018
September 19, 2018 will receive results in January 2019
November 21, 2018 will receive results in March 2019
January 23, 2018 will receive results in May 2019
March 13, 2019 will receive results in July 2019
