Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC)
Grants of $300 and $750 to Montana organizations to enhance their communities by planting one or more trees. Please note that applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis through the final deadline. Funding from these grants may be used for the purchase of plants. Tree planting projects will take place during the upcoming spring season.
Tree planting projects should follow the Best Management Practices for Tree Planting, a special companion publication to the ANSI A300 Part 6: Tree, Shrub, and Other Woody Plant Maintenance – Standard Practices (Transplanting). This booklet covers bare root, containerized, and balled and burlap tree stock.

Tree City USA communities are eligible for a $750 grant
The Applicant will hold an Arbor Day Celebration on or around Montana’s Arbor Day, April 27, 2018, but no later than June 15, 2018, unless approval has been issued in writing by DNRC.
Organizations representing communities throughout Montana may apply for a $300 grant.
Communities that are a Tree City USA may apply for a $750 grant. More information about Tree City USA may be found here:
Matching funds are encouraged but not required.
The grant requires submission of an Arbor Day Proclamation.
Arbor Day Grant Applications are due by January 19th, 2018.
The DNRC will grant funds on a “first-come” basis until all available funds are granted.
