College scholarships of up to $3,000 per year to Alaska residents who are pursuing degrees and/or careers in education, government, or public service. There are no age restrictions for these scholarships.

Unlike past years, the funding source will be providing fewer scholarships in the coming year, though for greater sums, ranging from one $3,000 Eugene A. Kennedy scholarship to the highest-scoring applicant (which may be renewed for up to four years) to one-year scholarships of at least $1,000.

Estimated Size of Grant:

The Fund will provide one $3,000 Eugene A. Kennedy Award to the highest-scoring applicant (which may be renewed for up to four years). A number of additional one-year scholarships of at least $1,000 are awarded as well.

Term of Contract:

The Eugene A. Kennedy Award is renewable for up to a full four years, pending academic review by the board. Other scholarships are one-year scholarships.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Any Alaska resident at the high school senior level or above, pursuing a degree in education, government, or public service, is eligible to apply. There is no age limitation on Scholarship applications.

Applications are drawn from throughout the state.

Pre-Application Information:

Applications will be accepted by email or USA mail and must be sent and postmarked no later than February 20, 2018. Applications received after that date will not be considered. Award winners will be announced in April/May 2018, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the Fund’s founding.
