D'Addario Foundation Grant
Grants to USA Nonprofits for Music Education
Program Support and Product Donations
Program Support and Product Donations
Foundation / Corporation
Grants averaging $2,500 and product donations to USA nonprofits for programs that provide music education in schools and local communities. New applicants must submit a letter of inquiry by July 31, 2017. Funding is intended to improve access to music instruction and to give children nationwide greater opportunities to play music early and often.
The D'Addario Foundation believes in the transformative power of music to build self-confidence, creativity and discipline and that mentoring and building communities through music can positively affect social change. Programs that align with these beliefs and goals are optimum candidates for grant requests.
Average of over 200 grants each year.
Grants average $2,500.
Financial Aid and Product Donations:
Nonprofit organizations designated as 501(c)(3) (or the equivalent in the applicant's country), applying for programs that align with the Foundation mission, may request to receive products as a donation. Such requests must also be initiated through submission of a letter of inquiry. If invited to apply, note that on the grant application, there is a section that specifically asks if the requesting organization has a need for a product donation in addition to a cash award.
Note that the Foundation prefers not to provide monetary support for the purchase of instruments, but does provide in-kind donations in the form of product accessories quite often.
The Foundation does not fund individuals; religious, veteran or fraternal organizations; telethons, benefits, or fundraisers; capital campaigns, endowments or building fund drives; political or lobbying organizations; vocal or piano programs; performances; songwriting workshops; drum circles; band boosters; or private schools.
Although support is intended primarily for private sector non-profit programs, existing in-school music programs seeking additional support may still write a letter of inquiry.

Organizations that have received a grant award previously need not a submit a letter of inquiry for continued support. Previous grantees are asked to go directly to the full grant application and apply by the appropriate deadline.
Whether previously funded before or not, all applicants must reapply each year for continued support.
