Grants to Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, New Hampshire, and Vermont nonprofit organizations for programs and services that benefit communities where the funding source has a business presence. Funding is intended for projects and activities within the focus areas of youth development, community development, and affordable housing. All requests must align with the funding source’s priorities of economic stability, employment, education, and housing. Funding requests should be for a program or service.

The overall mission of the Fund is to:

  • Enhance the quality of life for residents
  • Promote the economic development and well-being of neighborhoods
  • Support the educational and developmental needs of children and youth

Estimated Size of Grant:

The minimum request amount is $2,500. The average grant is $5,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

To be considered for a grant from People's United Community Foundation, organizations must meet the following minimum eligibility requirements:
-Organization must be operating as a recognized public 501(c)3 nonprofit organization for a minimum of 2 years, and the program/service for which funding is being requested must be operating for a minimum of 12 months.
-Must operate or serve individuals within the cities/towns where People's United Bank branches are located.
-Organizational category and/or the program/service for which you are seeking funding must NOT be on PUCF's list of ineligible activities.

General operating support is limited and only accepted with prior approval.

Pre-Application Information:

Applications are only accepted during three grant cycle periods.

Returning grantees should apply during the same grant cycle as previously applied or later.

The new application periods are as follows:

1st Cycle:
-Application Period: November 1 - 30
-Board Meeting/Grant Decision: February

2nd Cycle:
-Application Period: Deadline extended to April 10
-Board Meeting/Grant Decision: June

3rd Cycle:
-Application Period: July 1 - 31
-Board Meeting/Grant Decision: October

Only one grant application will be accepted by an organization during a 12-month period.
