Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $20,000 to Puget Sound Region, Washington nonprofit emergency medical service providers to purchase equipment. Matching funds may be requested to defray the cost of equipment purchases that will improve the quality of care provided. Eligible locations include Seattle, King County, and surrounding communities.

The Foundation may contribute up to 75% of the cost of the requested equipment. The applicant agency must demonstrate the financial capability and commitment to fund the balance of the request.

The Foundation’s funding priority is equipment for the training and education of firefighters and paramedics.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Equipment grant awards generally range between $250 - $5,000. Grant requests in excess of $20,000 will not be considered.

Term of Contract:

No agency will receive funding for two consecutive years.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

An agency must be the primary nonprofit provider of emergency medical services. Funding is only available to applicants in the Puget Sound region (Seattle, King County, and surrounding communities).

It is anticipated that such agencies will usually be local fire departments, but may be community hospitals or other local institutions, which operate as nonprofit public agencies.

All applicant agencies must be public agencies or private nonprofit corporations recognized by the State of Washington.

Restrictions:

- No agency will receive funding for two consecutive years.

- The Foundation will not consider requests for vehicles, gurneys, glidescopes, operational expenses, clothing or wearable safety items, and replacement equipment.

- Requests for funding AED’s will only be considered from agencies with operating budgets of $50,000 or less.

Pre-Application Information:

Application Deadline: February 15, 2018

Funding will be on a matching basis. The Foundation may contribute up to 75% of the cost of the requested equipment. The applicant agency must demonstrate the financial capability and commitment to fund the balance of the request.

Applications will be rated and ranked in priority order and will receive funding in accordance with the financial capabilities of the Medic One Foundation.
