Community Foundation of Teton Valley
10/15/21 5:00 PM
Grants of up to $1,000 to Idaho and Wyoming nonprofit organizations and government entities to benefit local communities in eligible areas. Funding is intended for programs within a wide variety of focus areas, including the arts, education, environment, social services, recreation, animal, and civic concerns. Projects should address issues in the Teton Valley community: Teton Valley, Idaho, and Alta, Wyoming.
Through this program, Seniors from Teton High School’s AP Government class are introduced to philanthropy through a lecture and class exercises, and then by reviewing actual grant applications. Students discuss each project’s potential impact on the community and debate the merits of each application. In their last class, students meet with up to five applicant organizations before determining their final award allotments.
Grant Awards are distributed by students to the nonprofits at an Awards Assembly at Teton High School. The Community Foundation encourages applications from nonprofits of all sizes across all fields of interest. A broad cross-section of strong applications enriches the learning experience for participants and increases their awareness of the nonprofits who serve the community and the importance of the work they do.
