Grants of up to $10,000 to West Virginia nonprofit organizations, including schools, churches, and government agencies for a wide range of programs and projects that benefit the residents of Jefferson, Berkeley, and Morgan Counties. Funding will be provided for proposals that focus on the areas of youth, housing, human welfare, education, and healthcare.
Youth Grants – ($1,000 to $5,000): To support programs that assist sick, needy, dependent, neglected and disadvantaged children, improve the quality of life for children in the Eastern Panhandle community, and/or provide educational, athletic, academic, social, civic or community-based activities that involve or support children.
Berkeley County Education Grants – ($600 to $3,500): To support educational opportunities in Berkeley County including but not limited to: preparatory skills, tutoring programs, innovative programs that strengthen educational development, nutrition programs, small capital needs within the classroom, department, or school, after-school and summer programs.
Housing Action Fund Grants – ($500 to $2,000): To support Eastern Panhandle programs that address homelessness and/or affordable housing with an emphasis on programs that promote inter-county collaborative efforts, increase community knowledge, and serve high need populations, underserved towns, or counties.
Healthcare Grants – ($2,500 to $10,000): To support Eastern Panhandle healthcare programs that provide access to affordable, high-quality, patient-centered care, and empowerment through health education, and connection to community resources.
Jefferson County Historic Cemetery Grants – ($1,000 to $5,000): To support 501(c)(13) Jefferson County historic cemeteries with a strict adherence to the following purposes: maintenance, repair, and restoration of monuments, headstones, and grave markers of historical or architectural significance to the community, emphasizing notable Civil War era history, preservation, beautification and maintenance of abandoned or deteriorating graves of deceased persons; focusing on areas open to the public, and/or maintenance of semipublic areas that lessen the burden of government.
Human Welfare Grants – ($500 to $2,500): To support Eastern Panhandle programs that provide assistance to sick, needy, dependent, neglected, or disadvantaged persons.

All 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, public schools, churches and government agencies serving Berkeley, Morgan, and/or Jefferson Counties in West Virginia are eligible to apply. Collaborative efforts are encouraged.
Grants are awarded on a reimbursable basis. Receipts and invoices must be provided to the Community Foundation in order to receive grant payments. The Community Foundation may consider requests for advance distribution.
All grant applications must be received/postmarked on or before December 10, 2018 to be considered. Grants will be announced by March 1, 2019.
Applications may be hand-delivered or mailed to the Community Foundation.
