Grants of up to $2,500 and one grant of $5,000 to Washington, DC nonprofit organizations, schools, and neighborhood groups for projects that benefit residents of the Capitol Hill neighborhood. Funding is intended for programs that address the needs of schools and teachers, for other youth programming such as after school and summer, etc., social services, arts and culture, and neighborhood beautification and community building.
On occasion, awards of more than $2,500 are made for projects of particular merit. Each Fall, one $5,000 "Bill Phillips Grant" is made to support social service work. The Bill Phillips Grant will support social service work, either new or ongoing, that benefits the community by serving the neighbors in need.
