Grants to Arkansas and Texas nonprofit organizations for high-quality programs benefiting local communities. Funding is intended to support services that align with the following areas of focus: health, education, human services, and arts, culture, and the humanities. Requests are encouraged for capital, project-related, medical research, and endowment campaigns.
Funding for start-up programs and limited general operating requests will also be considered.

The majority of grants from the Sturgis Charitable Trust are 1 year in duration. On occasion, multi-year support is awarded.
Grants are awarded to qualified charitable organizations in both Arkansas and Texas. Approximately 65% of the Trust's annual distributions are made within the state of Arkansas. The remaining 35% of grants are distributed within the state of Texas. For grants made within the state of Texas, strong preference is given to organizations located in the Dallas area, while second preference is give to organizations in North Texas.
The application deadline for the Roy and Christine Sturgis Charitable Trust is March 1.
The Decision Timeframe for grant awards is 3-4 months.
Organizations that receive a 1-year grant from the Roy and Christine Sturgis Charitable Trust must skip 2 years before submitting a subsequent application. For example, if your organization submitted a grant application for the March 2017 deadline and was awarded a grant in June, your organization is not eligible to re-apply until March of 2019.
Organizations that receive a multi-year grant from the Roy and Christine Sturgis Charitable Trust are not eligible to re-apply until 2 years after the close of the grant cycle. For example, if your organization submitted a grant application for the March 2017 deadline and was awarded a 2-year grant in June, your organization would not be able to re-apply to the Roy and Christine Sturgis Charitable Trust until March of 2020.

Please submit online applications by 11:59 p.m. on the day of the foundation’s deadline date. If the application deadline date falls on a weekend or a federally recognized holiday, the deadline is not extended, and therefore applications must be submitted on the prior business day by 11:59 p.m.
