Grants of up to $500 and grants of up to $5,000 to La Quinta, California nonprofit organizations for community services to benefit local residents. Organizations may request “seed” money for new programs. Organizations seeking funds for rental fees for City facilities may request more than the $5,000 funding limit.

Organizations applying to the Community Services Grant program for the first time are eligible for a "Starter Grant". The "Starter Grant" allows first-time applicants grant funding up to $500 if they demonstrate their commitment to provide services to the La Quinta community. If an organization is selected to receive the "Starter Grant" they would then be eligible to apply to the program again the next fiscal year.

Estimated Size of Grant:

All funding requests are limited to an amount not to exceed $5,000. Grants applied directly to rental fees for City facilities are not subject to the $5,000 limit.

The Starter Grant allows first time applicants grant funding up to $500.

Term of Contract:

Funds can be spent over a 12 month period.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applications are accepted from recognized nonprofit organizations that directly benefit La Quinta residents.

Second consideration is given to nonprofit organizations that indirectly affect the quality of life for the residents of La Quinta.

Individuals are not eligible for funding through the City of La Quinta grant program.

1st Round
- Grant deadline: Friday, Sept. 6, 2019 by 5 p.m.
- Grants to Council: Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019
- Checks distributed: Week of October 14, 2019

2nd Round
- Grant deadline: Friday, January 10, 2020 by 5 p.m.
- Grants to Council: Tuesday, February 4, 2020
- Checks distributed: Week of February 17, 2020

3rd Round
- Grant deadline: Friday, May 8, 2020 by 5 p.m.
- Grants to Council: Tuesday, June 2, 2020
- Checks distributed: Week of June 15, 2019

Grants are considered and funded up to three times per year (rounds).

All three rounds are held within the city's fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).

Organizations that receive CDBG funds from the City of La Quinta during the same fiscal year are not eligible for funding.

Organizations that were funded before June 30, 2018 are now eligible to apply. Organizations that were funded after July 1, 2018 are ineligible for funding and must wait until July 1, 2020 to re-apply.

Organizations can request "seed" money for a start-up; however they are required to obtain matching funds from other sources in the same fiscal year before the grant funds will be released.
