Grants totaling $25,000 to USA individual researchers who hold a medical and/or doctoral degree in the biomedical sciences field, or in a field applicable to health science research. Funding will be provided to eligible individuals to pursue cutting-edge research on pancreatic cancer. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for researchers to access the intellectual resources and state-of-the-art technology that are available at the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research (FNLCR), the only federal national laboratory in the United States devoted exclusively to biomedical research.

These grants provide travel support to researchers at any career stage, during or after the postdoctoral level, to visit FNLCR to pursue KRAS research that is directly relevant to pancreatic cancer, with aims aligned with the RAS Initiative.

The Scholarship provides reimbursement directly to the Scholar for reasonable and customary travel expenses to and from FNLCR. Expenses eligible for reimbursement include air and ground transportation, parking, hotel, and meals. While visiting FNLCR, Scholars will be granted guest researcher status and will have access to onsite equipment, technology, reagents and other research supplies at no cost. Technical support and counsel will be available from RAS Initiative leadership and the research team. Scholars will have the opportunity to participate in lab meetings, seminars, and other professional activities.

The research proposed to be accomplished at FNLCR must:
- Be directly relevant and applicable to pancreatic cancer and KRAS;
- Benefit from resources and collaborations available at FNLCR;
- Involve a technical challenge and/or training objective; and
- Relate to any priority research area of the RAS Initiative: structural biology and biochemistry, RAS inhibitor assays, RAS-member interactions, biology of mutant KRAS cells lines and pathway analysis.

Applications will be evaluated based on:
- Alignment of proposed research with the RAS Initiative;
- Potential impact of proposed research;
- Fit of the proposed research to applicant’s broader research program; and
- Anticipated benefit of scholarship for the applicant.

A total of $25,000 will be awarded in Travel Scholarships on a rolling basis until these funds are committed. The amount of support requested for travel should be consistent with the time needed to accomplish the proposed scope of work at FNLCR.

Applicants must:
- Hold a medical and/or doctoral degree (PhD, MD, DO, PharmD or equivalent) in the biomedical sciences or in a field applicable to health science research; and
- Be affiliated with and based at an academic, medical or research institution in the United States.

Employees/subcontractors of a government or for-profit entity are not eligible.
