Grants to South Haven, Michigan nonprofits, schools, and agencies for programs in the areas of education, economic development, and arts and culture. Proposals are accepted for both capital and project expenses. Previous grants have funded summer camps and a maritime museum.

Preference will be given to proposals that:
- Address priority community concerns
- Are change-oriented and problem-solving in nature
- Will have the greatest benefit per dollar granted
- Have the potential of leveraging additional grants from other sources such as government and other foundations
- Assist grant recipients to achieve certain objectives

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

In order to be eligible for a grant from the South Haven Community Foundation, your agency, or the people your agency works with, must be within 10 miles of downtown South Haven.

The South Haven Community Foundation will only consider grant applications (1) from organizations that have been recognized as non-profits (501(C)3) by the Internal Revenue Service or that are submitted by school systems or municipal governments; (2) for projects that benefit the greater South Haven community; and (3) that are complete and timely.

The Foundation generally does not make grants for the following:
- Ongoing operating expenses except on a short-term basis when support is critical to the survival of a key agency or program
- Programs/equipment that were committed to prior to the grant application period
- Debt reduction
- Annual appeals or membership contributions
- To or for projects/organizations benefiting individuals or a few persons
- Travel expense for individuals or groups
- Support of public or private educational institutions or government agencies except in special situations where support is essential to projects/programs that meet critical community needs
- Religious purposes or programs requiring religious participation
- Political purposes
- Endowment building
