Grants generally up to $7,500 to South Carolina nonprofit organizations for programs that provide direct services to families and individuals contending with situational poverty. Funding is intended for programs that provide basic needs, such as clothing, food, shelter, free health services, as well as necessary home repairs, basic educational programming, transportation, and other direct services that fall under the criteria of the Funding Source.

There is no “limit” to awards, but generally Caritas awards are less than $7,500. Caritas grant awards vary in size and are proportional to an organization’s operating budget.

There are no multi-year grants available at this time.

Applicants should have a 501(c)3 tax-exempt status and provide programs or services within South Carolina.

Caritas grant awards are generally designed for organizations with annual budgets of less than $900,000. However, if your organization focuses on fundamental needs like those listed above but your operating budget is larger than $900,000, you may still qualify for consideration. Contact the Program Team to discuss the possibility of waiving this requirement for your application.

The Foundation does not fund individuals, scholarships, or capital campaigns.

The Foundation accepts applications for Caritas grants biannually, the first Tuesday of April and October.

Applicants should not apply for other categories of Foundation grant funding when applying for Caritas Grants. Funds are limited and the grants process is competitive.
