Grants of up to $10,000 per year for up to three years to USA K-12 public and private school teachers and teams of teachers for projects that provide opportunities for teachers to improve classroom instruction. Eligible projects are those that integrate creative strategies that encourage critical inquiry and demonstrate observable effects on students.

Teachers will have the opportunity to reflect and write about their projects, as well as to share their results with other teachers.

Ideal candidates:
- Are eager to improve your classroom instruction
- Are willing to document your new approach in detail
- Have an imaginative and well-considered plan for enriching classroom instruction

Estimated Size of Grant:

The Foundation awards grants to individuals in amounts up to $10,000 per year, for a maximum of $30,000 over three years.

Term of Contract:

You may apply for a one, two, or three year grant. Grant proceeds are disbursed on August 15 of each year.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligible applicants:
- Are licensed k-12 teachers employed in public or private schools
- Have the background and experience to complete the project successfully
- Are willing to work in collaboration with the Foundation.

There are no geographical restrictions on the grants.

Awards are made to individuals. While you can have a team representing an institution, only one person can be the recipient.

Pre-Application Information:

The application is available online from January 15-April 15 each year. The application system closes after 350 submissions.

A project may have one or many participants involved in its planning and implementation. However, the Foundation requires that applications be submitted in the name of one individual, even if there are two or more participants involved in a single project.

Your application must include 3 recommendations. All recommendation letters must be uploaded by the
authors of the letters of recommendation BEFORE the application due date (April 15) OR before the Foundation receives 350 application submissions. Remember, a limited number of applications are accepted every year and the application will close early if that limit is reached. Submit your application early!

McCarthey Dressman Education Foundation’s Board of Trustees meet to review applications and determine funding in June of each year. Notifications of application status are sent on July 15 of each year. The grants are disbursed on August 15.
