Request a Grant Writer

Grants to Atlanta Area, Georgia organizations to address critical needs in the areas of senior services, children’s services, and animal welfare. A Letter of Intent must be submitted before applying. Funding may be used for program development, seed money, matching funds, and capital campaigns.

The Foundation funds organizations in the Atlanta area only (Fulton, Dekalb, Cobb, and Gwinnett counties). Exceptions are made for areas where the Abreu’s have lived.

The May P. & Francis L. Abreu Charitable Trust funds organizations in the Atlanta area only (Fulton, Dekalb, Cobb, and Gwinnett counties). Exceptions are made for areas where the Abreu’s have lived.

The foundation does not approve requests for operating or grants to individuals.

Pre-Application Information:

Deadlines:

The Trust has two grantmaking cycles.

Spring Cycle:
LOI Deadline – 1/15
Full Proposal Deadline – 3/31

Fall Cycle:
LOI Deadline – 6/30
Full Proposal Deadline- 9/30

The foundation has a two-phased application process. All organizations wishing to apply for a grant must first submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) to the foundation. Even if an organization has received funding from Abreu in the past, the LOI is required. After reviewing your LOI, you will either be notified that your request has been declined or you will receive a link to the full application. All requests must be submitted using the online system. If an LOI or full application is received after the deadline, it will be moved into the next grant cycle.

If the Trust determines that the proposed project is eligible for consideration then the applicant will be contacted and asked to complete the application for review during the next grant cycle.
