Foundation For The Carolinas (FFTC) - Cherokee County Community Foundation

Grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 to South Carolina nonprofits, congregations, and governmental and educational institutions for programs that serve residents of Cherokee County. Programs may fall in the areas of public health, education, economic development, crime and safety, and family and youth.
Within the investment areas listed above, the Foundation encourages grant proposals which target one or more improvement (downward trending) areas identified in the 2017 Cherokee County Indicators Update. Please see Supporting Documents below.
The Board of Trustees supports their mission through the annual competitive grantmaking program. The Foundation is an investor in the community and is interested in creating the highest possible levels of community gain, focused on improving the lives of Cherokee County, SC citizens.

Actual award amounts will be determined based on the merit of the project and available funds. Grant awards typically range between $1,000 and $5,000 with the average award approximately $3,000. With significant additional funding in 2019, the board will consider awards up to $10,000 for the most competitive applications.
Grants must be awarded to eligible organizations including 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, congregations, governmental and educational institutions for projects that will serve the residents of Cherokee County, SC. If the organization conducting the project is not an eligible organization, a grant can be applied for under the fiscal sponsorship of an eligible organization.
Please note, the following areas do not fall within Cherokee County Community Foundation’s current funding priorities:
- Capital campaign requests
- Debt retirement/deficit funding or expenses incurred prior to grant award decisions
- Direct support of individuals (e.g. scholarships, hardship)
- Duplication of existing programs or services by new organizations
- Endowment funds
- Travel and conferences
- Publication of books
- Projects that are typically the funding responsibility of federal, state or local government
- Projects that promote political or religious views
- Political or lobbying activities
- Sponsorships or fundraisers

Begin accepting applications: March 18, 2019
Deadline for applications: April 12, 2019, 12:00 PM
Award & decline notifications: June 2019
Completed applications must be submitted by Friday, April 12, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. Please note: The application system closes promptly at 12:00 p.m. and will not accept late submissions.
Proposals for larger grant awards are encouraged to identify additional funding sources and partnerships with other organizations.
