Grants of $2,500 to Canada nonprofits in rural communities to support community programs that improve the lives of local residents. Nonprofits must be nominated by local farmers and winners will be selected randomly from all entrants. Winners could include educational organizations, 4-H clubs, agricultural societies, service clubs, or other civic groups, such as health-related organizations or food pantries.

A total of 66 grants (two per territory) will be randomly awarded in 33 territories across Canada.

The program is available in 33 eligible territories across Canada. These are the territories where the large majority of grains and oilseeds are produced in Canada. For a list of the eligible territories, see the attached map.

Eligible nominators are farmers who live in one of the 33 designated territories, are the age of majority in the province they reside and are actively engaged in farming corn, soybeans or canola in one of the eligible territories. No purchase is necessary to enter or win.

The following individuals and the persons with whom they are domiciled are not eligible to participate in this program: (i) officers, directors, and employees of Sponsor, or of any of its representatives or advertising/promotion agencies; (ii) officers, directors and employees of Monsanto Canada, or of any of its subsidiaries or affiliates; (iii) officers, directors and employees of any Monsanto licensed seed dealer; (iv) officers, directors and employees of Ag in the Classroom, or of any of its subsidiaries or affiliates; and (v) spouses of any of the officers, directors or employees listed in (i) through (iv) above.

Organizations must meet the requirements for charitable status as defined by the Canada Revenue Agency and have a CRA charitable organization number or be a not-for-profit agency engaged in charitable work. The recipient charity or not-for-profit must operate in the community or surrounding area where the nominating farmer resides.

Grants may not be used for any of the following: (a) individual aid or personal support; (b) underwriting deficits; (c) fraternal, labour or veterans’ organizations, unless the project benefits the general public; (d) benefits, dinners or advertisements; (e) religious, politically partisan, or similar groups; (f) endowments; (g) activities that directly support marketing programs; or (h) projects in which Sponsor, Ag in the Classroom or Monsanto Canada has a financial interest, or from which any of these entities could derive a financial benefit.
