Grants of up to $4,000 to Carbon County, Wyoming nonprofit organizations and government agencies to support tourism opportunities that attract out-of-county visitors. Funding is available for the advertising, marketing, and sponsorship of tourism events.

The purpose of the Carbon County Visitors' Council (CCVC) is to promote events, tourism, and the hospitality industry in Carbon County.

The goal of the CCVC Grant Process is to assist Carbon County organizations with events designed to generate travel and tourism within the county.

The Board has developed two event grant categories:

1) Event Advertising and Marketing

An Advertising and Marketing Grant is designed to assist Carbon County organizations with advertising and marketing efforts in order to bring out-of-county attendees and participants to a specific events.

The Carbon County Visitors’ Council considers all typical marketing mediums eligible for grant funding. A proposed layout, sample and/or script should be provided with the applications. If a sample is not provided with the application, the grant may not be approved.

Other Marketing Items Which May Qualify:
-Awards – Trophies, plaques, framed certificates, etc.
-Cash Prizes – Minimum cash prize equaling $50.00 or higher. NOTE: All Awards and Cash Prizes are matched at 50% of expenditure not to exceed grant award total.

2) Sponsorship (events such as conferences or conventions)

A Sponsorship Grant is designed to assist Carbon County organizations with events that draw substantial out-of-county overnight visitors to Carbon County without the need to advertise. Events such as conventions, conferences, culminating events, member events, events at registration capacity, or events that have other sources of advertising funding may qualify.

The Sponsorship Grant funds can be used for the following event expenses:
-Event Stationary
-Event registration forms
-Event Officials/Judges
-Event Awards (given away)
-Event Space Rental
-Event T-shirts
-Free Brochures
-On-site Event Brochures
-On-site Event Posters
-Rental Equipment
-Speakers/Presenters at the Event

Grant award decisions for both grant types are based on:
-Number of visitors/attendees inside and outside Carbon County.
-Number of overnight stays generated.
-Estimated economic impact on the area as a whole.
-Opportunity to maintain and grow visitation on an annual basis.
-Effect on the local lodging tax of the event in past years (if an annual, recurring event).

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grants provide a reimbursement of up to Four Thousand Dollars ($4,000) based on expected (new events) and/or proven (repeat event) attendance:

Attendees:
-1 - 100: Up to $1,000
-101 - 250: Up to $2,000
-251 - 400: Up to $3,000
-401 and above: Up to $4,000

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Grants are available to Carbon County tourism partners that are certified nonprofit or governmental organizations: 501(c)3 or 501(c)6. Proof of nonprofit status must be supplied with the completed grant application.

Sectarian groups and religious institutions are not eligible.

CCVC will not approve Event Advertising & Marketing grant funds for the following:
-Phone or equipment expenses
-Administration, officials, judges, presenters, teachers, facilitators, etc.
-Entertainment, Bands, DJ’s – Note: radio remote broadcasting qualifies as Audio Media.
-Items sold for profit, food, alcoholic beverages
-Postage, or sales tax

The CCVC Board will not provide Sponsorship Grant funds for the following:
-Advertising
-Alcoholic Beverages
-Cash Prizes
-Entertainment at Event
-Items sold for profit at event
-Postage

Pre-Application Information:

All submissions must be post marked, received or date stamped no later than 11:59 PM on the due date.

The CCVC Board of Directors will address grant applications during grant session meetings. Grant session meetings will be held in January, May and September of each year. (Applications are due by the last Monday of April and August and the last Monday prior to Christmas Day in December – 12/18/2017; 04/23/2018; 09/05/2018.)

Late applications will not be processed without prior authorization from the Director.

Applications may be submitted no more than 245 days (8 months) prior to the event and prior to on the last Monday of April, August and the third (3rd) Monday of December.

CCVC Grant funding is a reimbursement of Advertising and Marketing dollars spent. Proof of payment is required.
