Grants to Central Virginia nonprofit organizations to enhance the quality of life for residents of Charlottesville and the neighboring counties of Rockingham, Madison, Greene, Augusta, Louisa, Orange, Nelson, Buckingham, Albermarle, and Fluvanna. The Foundation supports conservation, education, and the promotion of a civil society.
The Foundation is not interested in physical plant or construction projects; rather, the Foundation wishes to promote programs, which seek to eliminate social and environmental problems before they occur. The Foundation’s focus is on the total community-people, conservation-nature, animals and the arts
Proposals will be considered for startups, operating expenses for new and existing programs, as well as repeat funding. Innovation is encouraged.

There is no limit to the dollar amount that an applicant may request. The Board of Directors will determine the size of each grant awarded, based on need and available funds.
Repeat funding is allowed, but applicants must reapply after a 12-month period.
Proof of 501(c)(3) status is required.
The Foundation serves the Charlottesville and the contiguous counties of Rockingham, Madison, Greene, Augusta, Louisa, Orange, Nelson, Buckingham, Albermarle, and Fluvanna.

Projects which are designed to promote a specific political or religious agenda will not be considered.
Deadlines for the submission of grant proposals are April 1st and August 1st of each year. Any submission received after deadline will immediately be rolled over to the next funding cycle.
