Grants to Nebraska and Iowa nonprofit organizations to benefit residents of Latin American origin in eligible locations. Funding is intended for projects to address the needs of local communities. Program focus areas include but are not limited to arts and culture; health and wellness; organizational capacity building; community and economic development; civic engagement, and youth, families, and women. The Futuro Latino Fund supports initiatives and organizations that benefit Latino communities in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro area (Douglas, Sarpy, and Pottawattamie Counties).

Program goals include:

  • To contribute to the cultural enrichment, socioeconomic well-being, civic participation, and long-term sustainability of local Latino families, neighborhoods, and organizations.
  • To promote organizational models that are self-sustaining and can effectively address the interests and concerns of the diverse Latino population.
  • To support capacity-building and self-empowerment strategies among local Latino leaders and organizations.

The average grant award is $10,000 to $15,000.

Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicants must be a public, tax-exempt organization as defined by Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, Or working with a 501(c)(3) fiscal agent who can receive funds on your behalf.
- The applicant organization’s annual operating budget may not exceed $500,000. No exceptions will be made.
- Innovative programs, initiatives, services or other ideas within the above-stated focus areas that serve Latinos in Douglas, Sarpy, and Pottawattamie Counties.
- Applicants from previous years may apply again this year if their final report was submitted to the Omaha Community Foundation.

Applications that demonstrate collaboration among multiple organizations are encouraged. Latino/Latina/Latinx representation (among clients served, management, staff, and board members) is considered during the decision making process.

Pre-Application Information:

The application period is open annually from January 1 – March 1 (11:59 PM).

Awards are announced via email in May.
