Estimated Size of Grant:

Large Project Grants provide anywhere from $1,500 to $15,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The Community Foundation grants to public charities designated under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, as well as governmental agencies and educational institutions. To qualify, organizations must also serve the residents of Decatur County. Organizations need not be located in Decatur County, but the program must benefit the community.

While the Foundation does not grant to religious organizations for religious purposes, it can grant to religious organizations for community purposes. Therefore, grant funding cannot be used only to benefit your congreation, but it can be used for a project that your church is doing to benefit the community as a whole.

If you do not have your own 501(c)(3) designation, you must have an IRS letter from the organization sponsoring you and a letter stating their approval to seek the grant. In the case of a governmental entity, you must have a letter showing approval of the governing body to seek the grant.

Organizations cannot receive more than one large grant within a three-cycle period. So, if your organization receives a large grant in Cycle 1 of this year, you'll have to wait until Cycle 1 of next year to apply again.
