Grants ranging from $200 to $2,000 to New York nonprofit organizations, municipalities, and school districts to benefit youth in Chemung and Southeastern Steuben Counties. Funding is intended for programs, projects, and activities in the areas of arts and culture, human services, health, education and youth, environment, and civic affairs.

Grant proposals will be accepted that address issues important to youth. Program interest areas are broad based and may include areas of academic preparation, cultural inclusion, awareness and prevention, as well as indirect and direct services that will help youth develop positive assets for strong social, emotional, and academic growth. 

Submission of proposals that include activities that involve youth to address community need through involvement in arts (dance, drama, creative arts, music writing etc.), advocacy programs, educational classes, mentoring /tutoring, outdoor experiences, “real-life” learning experiences, service learning and treatment services are encouraged. 

RYP Grantmaking Objectives: 

  • Involve youth in the development and implementation of the project, program and/or activity
  • Increase community involvement and volunteerism among youth
  • Promote values of personal responsibility in youth
  • Provide an avenue for internal exploration and personal empowerment of youth
  • Respect and promote diversity
  • Support intervention and prevention of social problems
  • Support and encourage youth creativity
  • Develop civic and public pride in youth

Applicants may request amounts in the following range: $200 to $2,000.

Term of Contract:

The grant period is up to one year.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Rose’s Youth Philanthropists support a wide variety of projects but does restrict itself to organizations:
-Located in or providing services to residents of Chemung and Southeastern Steuben Counties;
-Classified as nonprofit charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code; or publicly supported organizations such as school districts and municipalities;
-Who have submitted a grant evaluation for any completed program previously funded by the Community Foundation.

Pre-Application Information:

The application deadline is April 16, 2020. Organizations applying for funding are required to use the online application system, Foundant Grant Lifecycle Manager.

Applicants will be notified of approval or declination by letter following the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors meeting in mid-June.

Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to discuss their grant request with the Community Foundation staff before beginning the application process.
