Grants of $4,500 over the three years to Indiana nonprofits for operating support to programs and projects that provide community development, civic engagement, charitable relief, health services, youth and family enrichment, education, arts and culture, and recreation to residents of Decatur County.

Awards are intended to give local organizations a better opportunity for long-term planning and goal setting and to ensure their ability to continue benefitting the community. To that end, funding may be applied to ongoing operating expenses and annual appeals.

The organization or project to receive sustaining funds should have a track record of at least three years of successful operation.

Number of Grants:

The number of sustainability grants given each year by the Foundation will depend on the Foundation's annual grant allocation budget.

Estimated Size of Grant:

The maximum annual grant will be $1,500, or $4,500 over the three-year granting cycle.

Term of Contract:

The DCCF will provide a specified annual grant for a period of three years without the need of an organization to reapply each year. At the end of the three-year grant cycle, the organization may apply for another sustaining grant.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The organization or its sponsoring organization must have a 501(c)3 designation from the IRS.

The Foundation will typically not fund:
- Political activities
- Make-up operating deficits
- Post event or after the fact situations
- Debt reduction
- Religious organizations for religious purposes

Pre-Application Information:

Application Timeline:
- Organizations who want to be considered for a sustainability grant need to apply by November 30 of the year prior to when the grant is to begin.
- Final approval of sustainability grants will be made by the entire DCCF Baord at its February meeting.
- The annual grant allotment will be paid in February after Foundation board approval.
