Grants of up to $1,000 to Kansas K-12 teachers for activities, lessons, and projects to educate students about environmental jeopardy, climate change, and the societal effects of environmental injustice. Funding may be used to develop environmental lessons and experiments, attend conferences, and purchase materials for lessons and projects. Teachers of all academic disciplines are encouraged to apply.

These grants are intended to aid teachers in educating students about the nature of the climate crisis and how human activity has accelerated climate disruption. The Sierra Club encourages Kansas teachers to think creatively about the possibilities for these grants. Perhaps an art teacher needs materials for a special exhibit, or a science teacher needs lab equipment, or a history teacher wants to plan a field trip on environmental history.

The Sierra Club's goal is to partner with teachers throughout Kansas in educating students about the nature and causes of the changing climate and so to contribute to their success in addressing this vital issue.

Grant recipients will agree to present their projects at a regular Sierra Club General Meeting of one of the five Sierra Club Groups in Kansas during the 2018-19 academic year.
