Grants averaging $5,000 to Missouri nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and educational institutions for programs that benefit communities in eligible regions. Funding is intended to support programs in the areas of wildlife conservation, health and human services, community betterment, adult and non-traditional education (not children's education); and arts, culture, and historic preservation. Requests will be accepted from organizations serving Eastern Jackson County, with the exception of Wildlife Conservation requests, which will be accepted from across the State.

Funding for Community Betterment activities may support activities that include, but are not limited to, improving neighborhoods, youth development and leadership, programs for seniors, transportation, violence prevention, and more.

The average Community Grants award is $5,000.

Term of Contract:

Programs are eligible for Community Grants funding for up to three consecutive years.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Organizations that are 501(c)(3) nonprofits, units of local government or public education institutions located in or serving individuals or communities in Eastern Jackson County (defined as East of I-435) are eligible to apply for Community Grants funding for Arts, Culture, and Historic Preservation; Adult or Non-Traditional Education; Community Betterment; and Health and Human Services proposals.

Organizations applying for Wildlife Conservation in Missouri funding are not restricted to serving Eastern Jackson County. Wildlife Conservation applications from across the state of Missouri are encouraged.

Pre-proposal Conference:

The free annual Grants Workshop will take place on Monday, February 10, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Midwest Public Risk, 19400 E. Valley View Pkwy, Independence, MO 64055. This event is a chance to hear about THCF's grants programs and ask questions about proposals. Interested applicants should please RSVP to Joanne Smith at if they are able to attend.

Important Dates:

- Community Grants Applications are due Monday, April 6, 2020.
- Applicants will be notified of funding decisions by early October.
- Grant checks will be presented at the annual Grants Luncheon in November.
- All recipient organizations must submit a written final report to THCF at the conclusion of the program funded or twelve months from the date of the award.

Programs are eligible for Community Grants funding for up to three consecutive years. After three years of funding have been awarded for the same program, that program becomes ineligible for one year. Applicants are still eligible to submit proposals for different programs. Exceptions to this rule will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
