Grants of up to $5,000 to Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin nonprofit organizations and government agencies to support health-related programs. This program provides critical financial support to smaller organizations in an effort to strengthen rural and regional communities. This funding area supports health-related programs that are core to the applicant nonprofit’s mission.
Grants will be made in the regional and rural areas of Medica’s service area, which includes Minnesota, western Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota. The Medica Foundation provides grants to support organizations located outside of the Twin Cities metropolitan area.

The Medica Foundation considers only single-year grant requests.
Nonprofit organizations that are 501(c)(3) legal entities or governmental agencies are eligible to receive funding.
This funding priority provides grants to nonprofit organizations in the regional and rural areas of Medica’s service area, which includes Minnesota, western Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota.
Minnesota applicants must be located outside of the Twin Cities 7-county metro area of Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott and Washington Counties.
Wisconsin funding is only offered in the following counties: Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Burnett, Chippewa, Douglas, Dunn, Eau Claire, Pierce, Polk, Sawyer, St. Croix and Washburn.
-Capital campaigns or capital expenditures
-General and/or ongoing operating support
-Long-term financial support
-Religious groups for religious purposes
-Lobbying or political activities
-Projects for which administrative expenses exceed 10 percent of the total grant
-Sporting events and athletic groups
The Medica Foundation has an online application process.
The grant application process starts by submitting an Initial Application along with any required forms. Initial Applications are brief three to five page summaries that describe the proposed project.
Submission of a Full Proposal is by invitation only. Organizations selected to move forward in the grant application process will be notified by email.
Applications are accepted June 1 – August 24, 2018.
Final grant determinations will be made December 21.
