Foundation / Corporation
Vermont Association of Conservation Districts (VACD) - Vermont Rural Fire Protection Task Force
Grants of up to $5,000 to Vermont rural towns and fire departments to enhance fire suppression capabilities. The purpose of this program is to save lives by shortening response time and improving firefighter and public safety; and to enable firefighters to have an easier, safer, and quicker year-round drafting capability.
Additional goals are to reduce risks to property and natural resources, both public and private and lower insurance premiums, both public and private.
The installation of new dry hydrants and other types of rural water supplies is still the priority of the program, but eligible projects also include repair/upgrade, replacement, relocation of existing rural water supplies, and new in 2019 is “drafting site” development, whether previously grant funded or not.
GrantWatch ID#: 180665
The maximum grant award is $5,000 per project/system.
All project work must be completed by November 1, 2019, unless an extension is authorized by Troy Dare, Rural Fire Protection Program Manager.
Extensions of one additional construction season are possible with proper justification. All 2019 grants with approved extensions that are not completed by June 30, 2020 will be terminated and no payment made.
