Grants ranging from $250 to $1,000 to California medical student organizations to support health-related initiatives that improve well-being in communities throughout the state. Eligible activities include health-related advocacy, community service, education, and outreach programming.

Priority will be given to projects for which funding is not traditionally provided by medical schools or local community sponsors. Programs are aimed to improve public health, provide clinical practice support and improvement, and address the social determinants of health and access to care.

Grants awarded cover a broad range of issues, including diversity in the workforce, providing services for the uninsured, and providing health education material to ethnic communities.

Grants range from $250 - $1,000.

Term of Contract:

Projects must be no longer than one year in duration.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Medical student organizations in all allopathic and osteopathic programs in California are eligible to apply.

Projects that have already been completed or will be completed by the time the application is submitted will not be funded.

CMAF will not fund the grant if the primary purpose of the grant is to pay for food.

Pre-Application Information:

The deadlines for submitting grant applications will be May 31, 2018 and October 31, 2018. Grantees will be notified by email of their award status and followed by a formal Award Letter outlining the guidelines and requirements of the grant by July 6, 2018 and November 30, 2018 respectively .

Applications must be submitted at least 90 days prior to the event.

Funds are disbursed on a reimbursement basis. In order to receive reimbursement, grantees will be required to submit a Final Report packet thirty days after completion of the approved project.

All applicants and project/event participants are requested to complete the Permission and Release Form to allow PHC to use all photography, videotape and digital reproduction to document and publicize projects and events.
