Grants ranging from $100 to $2,000 to Georgia public middle school teachers in eligible areas for innovative and creative classroom projects that benefit students in grades 6 to 8. Funding is intended to support projects developed by teachers that are not funded through general education funds. Eligible areas include Banks, Barrow, Clarke, Franklin, Gwinnett, Hall, Jackson, Lumpkin, Madison, and Oglethorpe Counties.

Selection Criteria for projects:
- Provides innovative and creative learning experiences for students.
- Increase interest and elevate the level of learning, teaching and the overall educational experiences.
- Provides defined goals and learning objectives.
- Provides project funds otherwise unavailable.
- Impacts a greater number of students for the longest period of time.
- Provides ongoing uses in the classroom for students.
- Supports the continuous improvement of education in Georgia.
- Grants are for innovative classroom projects only.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Projects may be funded from $100 to $2,000.

Term of Contract:

Grant funds must be used within the academic school year awarded.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

- Applicant must be a state-certified educator in a public middle school in Jackson EMC’s service area. A full list of eligible schools can be found here:
- Project must benefit students in grades 6-8.
- Teacher may only apply for one project per school year.
- Grants are open to all subjects.
- Instructions must be followed completely or application will be disqualified.

Grant requests will not be considered for the following: professional development, field trips, student fees, salaries, incentives, furniture, Smart Boards, PCs /laptops, printers, software or hand-held electronic tablet-like devices.

Pre-Application Information:

The application to submit a Bright Ideas grant is open until 5:00 PM on September 9, 2019.

Teacher may apply for one grant per academic year and applications must be approved by a school principal.

Bright Ideas grant recipients will be notified and checks will be delivered to middle schools during the month of October or November.
