Grants to USA nonprofit organizations that work to save homeless dogs and place them in loving homes. Funding is intended for operating expenses, program expenses, and certain capital expenses. The purpose of the grant program is to help improve the quality of care of dogs in shelter or rescue, and to increase adoption rates through programs and new initiatives.

There are three types of grants:

Dogs Rule Two-Year Grant: Only one grant is available. To be considered for a Pedigree Foundation Dogs Rule Grant, projects and programs must be a new, creative, and innovative initiative that could potentially serve as a best practice model for other shelters and rescues to help them increase their dog adoption rates. The project or program impact must be measureable and show adoption rate success attributable to grant funding. Applications will be judged based on the program’s innovation, ability to significantly impact dog adoption numbers, and sustainability past the two‐year grant period.

Program Development Grants: To be considered for this grant, program(s) or project(s) must support activities that expand the operational capability of your institution to improve dog adoption rates. This includes the expansion of existing programs or new programs that are important to your operation but do not fit the definition of the PEDIGREE Foundation Dogs Rule Grant. The project or program impact must be measureable and show adoption rate success attributable to funding. Capital requests will be considered for this grant type only.

Operation Grants: Funds may be used for general operating expenses including facility/structure renovation or upkeep, veterinary expense, transportation, or any other expense that helps to increase the organization’s dog adoption rate.
