Grants to North Carolina nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and schools in eligible counties to promote the health and wellness of local communities. Applicants must contact program staff and submit an LOI prior to applying. Funding is intended to support quality efforts that measurably improve health in the Triangle North region, which includes Warren, Vance, Granville, and Franklin Counties. Grant applications that are innovative and proactive in their approach to improving health in the region will be given priority.

In awarding grants, the Foundation will consider the grant-seeking organization’s mission, vision, and history as well as the potential impact and sustainability of the program on the Region. Priority will be given to proposals that will have a positive impact and improved outcomes in the areas of:

  • Chronic Disease
  • Mental Health and Substance Abuse
  • Nutrition and Physical Fitness
  • Reproductive Health
  • Success in School as it Relates to Health and Wellness

In addition to the requirements noted above, the follow criteria will be considered in evaluating grant applications:

  1. Strategic Focus: The Foundation’s priority will be projects that are evidence-based or new and innovative that will make long-lasting and beneficial changes in the health and quality of life of the people in the Triangle North Region. The Foundation will be a proactive grant maker in pursuit of this strategic focus.
  2. Sustainability: As a catalyst for the development of initiatives with long-term viability and impact, the Foundation will consider the sustainability of projects and programs. The Foundation will consider funding for ongoing operations, but not construction or renovation.
  3. Collaboration: The Foundation places priority on collaboration between organizations in matters of common concern to maximize effectiveness and impact of a program.
  4. Program Evaluation: Programs that include measurable goals with strategies that will contribute to healthy outcomes will be essential. The Foundation will also look for programs that have good evaluation systems in place for monitoring success.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applications may be submitted by nonprofit (501(c)(3))organizations, governmental organizations, and schools in the Triangle North Region, which includes Vance, Warren, Granville, and Franklin counties. Priority will be given to grant applications from the Tier One counties in the region, which are currently Vance and Warren.

Triangle North Healthcare Foundation does not support:
-Activities that exclusively benefit the members of sectarian or religious organizations.
-Annual fund drives or capital campaigns.
-Political campaigns or other partisan political activity.
-Direct financial assistance to meet the immediate needs of individuals.
-Endowments.
-Retirement of debt.
-Construction and renovation projects.

Pre-proposal Conference:

Triangle North Healthcare Foundation will present two grant writing workshops, Grant Writing from A to Z, on Thursday, February 20 at 10am and 2pm.

Space is limited to 12 participants in each session so registration is required.

Submit a Letter of Interest, utilizing the form provided on the online grant portal. If the Foundation staff and Board approve your organization’s Letter of Interest, you will receive an invitation to submit a full grant application.

The application review process may involve meetings or site visits with the Foundation’s staff.
