Grants of $200 and $400 to Kentucky public and private schools and districts with grades PreK through 12 to use arts education professionals to develop plans and assessment tools to integrate the arts into the curriculum. The short-term use of consultants will improve arts education in schools.

The SWAT program provides short-term technical assistance at a nominal cost to schools and districts in Kentucky. SWAT consultants are arts education professionals from across the Commonwealth who have a wide variety of expertise related to arts education. Each consultant has received training focused on current arts education issues.

Consultants provide three- to six-hour consultancies to assist schools and districts in aligning their curricula with the Kentucky Academic Standards for the Arts, developing their school or district-wide arts plans, developing formative and summative assessments and integrating the arts throughout the curriculum. Consultancies of up to six hours of on-site contact are available and may be scheduled for either a single day or over a period of time.

The applicants are responsible for the consultant's travel, meals and lodging expenses (if necessary), as well as incidental costs such as photocopying, long-distance phone calls and postage (if necessary).
