An opportunity is available to Kentucky architectural artists to be included in a statewide artist directory. Applications are invited from artists who have an established history of work in design-oriented or architectural installations and projects. The purpose of this program is to promote exemplary artists whose work includes architectural elements, custom-made fixtures, uniquely crafted building materials and design elements.
-Provide focused marketing for artists selected for the directory.
-Encourage the growth of the market for architectural artists and increase the visibility of the field.
The Architectural Artists Directory is an adjudicated directory of Kentucky artists who have an established history of working on special architectural or design-oriented projects and installations. The directory is intended for use by homebuilders, architects, interior designers, landscape architects and private clients as a resource for identifying artists who have the capacity to create unique products to the clients’ specifications.
This program is intended for artwork that is an integral part of a room, building, outdoor space or other structure.
Examples of products may include (but are not limited to):
-Door knobs and door handles
-Environmental Graphics (visual art customized for the design or dimensions of a room or building)
-Large scale art for public spaces
-Garden and outdoor fixtures and amenities
The Kentucky Arts Council will offer the following support to ensure the program standards and goals are met:
-Representation on the arts council website via the Architectural Artists Directory which may be accessed at http://artistdirectory.ky.gov/Pages/ArchitecturalArtistDirectory.aspx.
-Access to the Kentucky Peer Advisory Network (KPAN), which provides consultation in specific professional areas.
-Introduction to marketing appearances such as Kentucky Crafted: The Market.
-Inclusion in listings and referrals to home builders, galleries, individual clients, state agencies and the news media.
Eligible applicants are Kentucky artists whose work includes architectural elements, custom-made fixtures, uniquely crafted building materials and design elements.
Professional artists age 21 or older may apply. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or lawfully admitted to the U.S. for permanent residence or have permission from the Department of Homeland Security to work permanently in the U.S. Applicants must have been full-time Kentucky residents for at least six months prior to the application deadline.

For proof of residency, applicants must submit a copy of two of the following at the time of application:
-Kentucky driver’s license, which includes the date issued and expiration date OR Commonwealth of Kentucky identification card, which includes the date issued and expiration date. (Note: The arts council will not accept both a Kentucky driver’s license and a Commonwealth of Kentucky identification card as the required two proofs of residence.)
-Kentucky voter registration verification downloaded from the State Board of Elections’ Voter Information Center website at https://vrsws.sos.ky.gov/VIC/.
-Kentucky state income tax form (740 series for full-year residents) filed within the previous two years.
In order to maintain eligibility, participants in the Architectural Artists Directory must:
-Remain a full-time resident of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
-Conduct business in a professional manner and legal manner.
-Complete and submit an annual Creative Industry Report at the direction of the program director.
-Inform your legislators of your inclusion in this program and follow up with invitations to events that feature your work.
-Acknowledge the Kentucky Arts Council per the credits and logos guidelines at: http://artscouncil.ky.gov/Resources/CreditLogos.htm.
-Continue to actively create and market the type of work that was successfully adjudicated into the program.
-Comply with all rules for participating in specific exhibitions and events that are offered by the Kentucky Arts Council.

You must have a current sales and use tax account with the Kentucky Department of Revenue for your art or craft business, or have submitted a Form 10A100 Kentucky Tax Registration Application in order to complete your application. If you do not yet have a Kentucky Sales and Use Tax permit number, a copy of the completed Form 10A100 must be included with the paper copy of your application.
Applications must be postmarked by Sept. 15, 2017, or hand delivered to the Kentucky Arts Council office no later than 4:30 PM Eastern time on that date.
