Awards to outstanding Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC chief executives, nonprofit board directors, and law firm managing partners in the Washington, DC area in recognition of their exceptional work over the past twelve to fourteen months. The nominee's company or organization must be headquartered in either Washington, DC; or Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, or Prince William Counties in Virginia; or Montgomery or Prince George’s Counties in Maryland.
The 2017 C-Suite Awards will honor the top chief financial officers, chief information officers, chief operating officers, chief marketing officers, nonprofit executive directors, and managing partners who have demonstrated vital leadership and business savvy to guide their businesses to success this year.
The Washington Business Journal is looking for men and women who are established leaders with a strong record of innovation in their field, outstanding performance, a commitment to quality, a strong vision, a commitment to diversity in the workplace and contributions to the Greater Washington community.
There are four awards available for the top executives in each of the following fields (for a total of 24 C-Suite Award winners):
- Chief Financial Officer
- Chief Information Officer/Chief Technology Officer
- Chief Operating Officer
- Chief Marketing Officer
- Nonprofit Executive Director (Can also be CEO or president)
- Managing Partner

Each category will honor four top executives in their field for a total of 24 C-Suite Award winners.
C-level executives or board directors should be the nominators for this prestigious award. This includes chief financial officers, chief information officers, chief operating officers, chief marketing officers, nonprofit executive directors, and managing partners.
The nominee's company must be headquartered in Washington, DC; Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, or Prince William Counties in Virginia; or Montgomery or Prince George’s Counties in Maryland.
Note: Previous winners of the Washington Business Journal's CEO or CFO of the Year award are ineligible for this award.
The nomination process:
Nominations are due by September 29. Self nominations are accepted.
After the nomination close date, the Washington Business Journal and an independent panel of judges will select the honorees based on the criteria and deals made throughout the year. Nominators and nominees will be contacted if their candidates are selected. Honorees will be announced mid-to-late October.
All selected executives are required to attend the black-tie awards dinner on December 7 at the Watergate Hotel.
Each of the honorees will be invited to a video and photo shoot to be used in the awards program and special section featured in the December 8 issue of the Washington Business Journal.
Honorees will be presented with an award December 7 event.
