Awards to recognize Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC nonprofit organizations and businesses in eligible counties that have come together to work on a specific project. These awards are intended to honor collaborations and partnerships between local businesses and nonprofits that demonstrate positive outcomes for both organizations.

Nominees, both the business and the nonprofit, should be based in D.C. or within one of the following jurisdictions: Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun County, and Prince William Counties in Virginia, and Montgomery and Prince George's Counties in Maryland.

Examples of things judges will take into consideration are:

- A philosophy of "doing well by doing good," by supporting nonprofits that compliment a company's core values.
- Ongoing involvement of the CEO/owner and senior leadership in the company's social initiatives.
- Active promotion of philanthropy and volunteerism among employees.
- Demonstrating a measurable social impact from the company's philanthropic efforts.

The Washington Business Journal is seeking nominations to honor partnerships between local businesses and nonprofits that demonstrate positive outcomes for both organizations.

Nominees, both the business and the nonprofit, should be based in D.C. or within one of the following jurisdictions: Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun County, and Prince William Counties in Virginia, and Montgomery and Prince George's Counties in Maryland.

Awards for this honor will be presented at The Washington Business Journal's annual philanthropy event.

Nominations are due no later than September 22 by midnight. Nominations will be judged by the Washington Business Journal.

Multiple nominations for a single nominee will not increase a nominee's chances of winning.

The Award:

In November, The Washington Business Journal will honor the top givers in the region at the annual Corporate Philanthropy Awards. The Washington Business Journal's fifth-annual Citizenship award is among the several awards announced at the dinner.
