Fellowships for USA young women (between the ages of 18 and 35) who are working to educate the community about the importance of oral health. These fellowships provide the training, resources, and hands-on experience needed to help young women (over eighteen years old) become dental assistants.
Fellows play an integral role in educating their community about the importance of oral health as well as offering early interventions for children through oral hygiene assessments and dental cleanings. In addition, these fellowships give young women lifelong earning potential, help increase women’s participation in the labor force, and grow the local economy.
Located in NYC’s lively Garment District neighborhood, this fellowship program includes a full ecosystem of support for aspiring young women.
Fellows are selected in through a semi-annual competitive nomination process. Those chosen as Unspoken Smiles Fellows will spend four weeks at Unspoken Smiles headquarters in New York City, learning about the basics of dentistry, CPR, economic development, and the Unspoken Smiles mission. The Fall Fellowship runs from September 4, 2017, to October 4, 2017.
