Texas Medical Association Foundation (TMAF)
Awards of $2,500 and $5,000 to Texas local and statewide programs that address critical public health priorities and enable physicians to foster a healthy future for state residents. This award has recognized efforts addressing a range of issues, such as cancer prevention, health care, and childhood obesity.
Established in 1995, the award has recognized local and statewide programs including Fit Worth, Hope Medical Clinic, the Mission of Mercy Mobile Medical Clinics, Caring for Children Foundation of Texas, and Children Nutrition Program of the Texas Department of Agriculture.
TMA Foundation celebrates the legacy of John P. McGovern, MD, Houston, which includes his generous support of this program. The award incorporates many of the ideals Dr. McGovern valued, including high impact, innovative programs that improve the health of all Texans and that are “champions” of good health in their communities.

The top winner receives a $5,000 award to be used towards the winning program. TMA Foundation may also recognize a secondary winner with a $2,500 grant.
