Grants of up to $20,000 to North Carolina nonprofit organizations in eligible Triangle Area counties for programs and projects that focus on the arts, with a particular focus on art that engages underserved communities in nontraditional spaces. The funding source focuses on innovative nonprofits that are focused on systemic change.

The Longleaf Collective challenges nonprofits in Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Granville, Johnston, Lee, Orange, and Wake Counties to submit proposals for innovative programs that bring art into non-traditional spaces and/or engage underserved communities in the arts in new and creative ways.

In particular, the Collective seeks projects that foster art creation in addition to art appreciation and that bridge cultural or social divides. Project proposals are not limited to nonprofits with a mission specifically around the arts, and may involve any artistic medium(s) and serve any population(s) in eligible counties.

At least one proposal will receive seed funding and volunteer support from Longleaf Collective members in 2018 to explore and/or initiate implementation of the program.

The Collective envisions the grant making process being concentrated on long-term investments and partnerships. In addition, the grants should be used to experiment and take risks on opportunities that have the potential to produce the greatest social return.

The Collective aims to raise between $10,000 and $20,000 for this year's grant(s).

Only 501(c)3 organizations are eligible to apply.

Grants will be given to North Carolina organizations that are nonprofit in mission, nonpartisan in practice, and nondiscriminatory in terms of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status. The Longleaf Collective also upholds the values of nonpartisanship and diversity in regards to its own programming.
