Town of Sackville
Grants of up to $5,000 to Sackville, New Brunswick nonprofit organizations that provide local cultural and recreational associations for one-time equipment or capital purchases. Applicants are required to contact program staff prior to applying. Examples of eligible project include sporting equipment, playgrounds, building renovations, and other infrastructure costs.
The Town of Sackville recognizes the valuable contribution that volunteer organizations make to the local community. As a result, Sackville Town Council would like to support as many volunteer-based community organizations as possible within the annually allocated budget.
Town of Sackville Community Development Grants Program Objectives:
1. To be fiscally responsible to the taxpayers of the Town and to ensure there is value in the initiatives we choose to support and to contribute to the overall betterment of the community.
2. To support local community and sports organizations in the day-to-day costs of operation.
3. To maintain equity when dispersing public community development funds.
4. To improve the quality, quantity and access of community recreation opportunities by financially assisting groups with new and improving recreational, arts and cultural initiatives; leadership development opportunities; and recreational programming for all ages.
Town Council places priority on projects that provide opportunities for:
a. Active and Healthy Lifestyles
b. Artistic and Cultural expression and learning
c. Sustainable community development, and building stronger more cohesive communities
d. Residents to have enjoyable, rewarding leisure time activities
e. Positive personal growth and development (building resiliency, self-esteem and confidence)

The maximum grant amount is $5,000.
Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
i. Groups must be a nonprofit organization
ii. Groups must have title or at least a 7-year lease to the property to which they wish to apply funds, be able to demonstrate precedent in using the property in question and demonstrate no threat exists to that arrangement. (The Town bears no responsibility for the legitimacy of deeds or leases submitted for the purpose of this application).
iii. Groups operating community halls and church halls are eligible to apply as long as they are used to provide recreational or cultural activities to the general public.
iv. Groups must submit 3 letters of support for the project.
v. Groups applying for playground apparatus must demonstrate that all equipment under consideration meets all CSA standards, including ground preparation.
vi. Groups purchasing recreational or sporting equipment must clearly demonstrate the intended use of the equipment and how it fits into the overall long-term plan of the organization.
Grants are limited to 1⁄2 of the total costs of the proposed project.
Prior to submitting a Capital Funding Program Application groups are required to contact the Department of Recreation Programs and Events to arrange a meeting to discuss their project in detail.
The deadline to submit an application is October 15, 2017. Grants are reviewed by a Town Management team and recommendations will be submitted to Town Council in February, 2018 for approval (budget pending).
