Grants of up to $2,500 to Monterey County, California artists to create, produce, and present their art. The funding source aims to improve the quality of life and impact the region through the visual, performing, and literary arts.

The program goals are to recognize artistic excellence, provide direct support to artists who demonstrate that they are ready to take their work to a new level, and cultivate a public appreciation of the unique role of Monterey County artists in the region.

This is a list of LEAP qualifications:
- All genres and traditions are welcome.
- Applications can be for creating,
producing or presenting.
- All work must be original to the applicant.

Scoring will be based on the following.
- Quality: Artistic quality, originality, and technical skills — 80%
- Impact: Community, Professional and Personal — 20%

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grants up to $2,500 each will be awarded annually in the visual or performing arts each year and literary arts and media arts on a rotating basis.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

- Individual artists with three years demonstrated experience and fewer than ten years professional experience.
- Applicants must be a Monterey County resident.

Grants will be awarded annually in the visual or performing arts each year and literary arts and media arts on a rotating basis.

Applicants will demonstrate the quality of their work including evidence of a rigorous approach to creation and production and need for support at this time.

Expert panelists will assess each application — which will include a cover page, a narrative, work samples, resume and project budget.
