Grants to Alabama local and county governments, communities, nonprofit organizations, schools, public libraries, and committees to support local state-bicentennial events, activities, and projects. This grant supports educational programs and activities that commemorate the people and history of Alabama.

Types of Grants:
-Community Grants: Bicentennial-related events, projects, and activities in communities
-County Grants: To fund bicentennial-related events, projects, and activities in a county

The mission of ALABAMA 200 is to support, create, and execute events and activities that commemorate the stories of the state’s people, place, and path to statehood. Between 2017 and 2019, ALABAMA 200 will engage residents and visitors in educational programs, community activities, and statewide initiatives that teach, inspire, and entertain.

Projects or programs must:
-Be relevant to the Commission's mission
-Have the support of the local community or county's bicentennial committee
-Have the support of the local municipal or county government
-Be open and accessible to the public
-Be culturally inclusive
-Be achievable

Number of Grants:

Funding is available for up to 60 Community Grants and up to 30 County Grants.

Estimated Size of Grant:

-Community Grants: Up to $2,500
-County Grants: Up to $5,000

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligibility for Application
-Local bicentennial committees
-Towns and communities
-Historical, educational, cultural, civic, and community organizations (schools, public libraries, local history and heritage organizations, etc.)

Community Grants: Municipal governments, 501c3 organizations, or local bicentennial committees may apply.

County Grants: County commission offices, 501c3 organizations, or local bicentennial committees may apply.

Requirements: Support of local bicentennial committee with resolution on file and local county government

The Alabama Bicentennial Commission Foundation will not fund the following:
-Individuals (i.e., candidates for public office)
-For-profit ventures
-Political organizations

Pre-Application Information:

Available Funding:
-Community Grants: $150,000
-County Grants: $150,000

Grants will be awarded in three rounds, or until all funds are committed:
-Grants submitted by September 15, 2017 will be processed by October 15, 2017
-Grants submitted by October 15, 2017 will be processed by November 15, 2017
-Grants submitted by November 15, 2017 will be processed by December 15, 2017
