Awards to Arizona and Nevada K-12 teachers at public, private, or charter schools for exceptional achievement in science education. Nominations are due December 15, 2017 and full applications are due January 31, 2018. Teachers may apply in the categories of PreK, K-5, 6-8, or 9-12. Student teachers who have completed their student teaching experience may also apply.

If you have a dedicated teacher in your school whom you feel has demonstrated excellence in science education, please encourage him or her to apply for this award or nominate him or her for recognition.

All decisions of the judging panels are final. Winners will be notified of their selection in February 2018. The recipient of the award at each level will be presented with his or her award at the Annual Awards Luncheon held each spring (usually late March or early April) as part of the Academy's Annual Meeting. Each awardee will receive a plaque and a $50 gift card. Lunch will be provided for each recipient and one guest.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Any K-12 certificated or practicing Arizona or Nevada teacher who has not previously received this recognition (for any grade level) may apply. Applicants may be teaching at a public, private, or charter school. The award is also open to student teachers who have completed their student teaching experience.

Membership in the Academy is not required to apply.

An individual will only be recognized with this award one time during their professional career. If you are not selected this year, you are encouraged to resubmit a subsequent year.

Pre-Application Information:

The deadline to nominate a teacher is December 15, 2017. The Funding Source will follow up with him or her to complete their application.

Teachers applying themselves must apply by January 31st of each year.
