Grants of up to $30,000 to Nevada local emergency planning committees and state agencies for training and planning activities to mitigate, prevent, and respond to transportation-related hazardous material incidents. Funding may be used for equipment, training, and to improve local planning for such contingencies.

Grant requests must support state or local hazardous materials emergency response plans and must relate to the risk analysis contained in the plans.

Estimated Size of Grant:

The maximum request is $30,000.

Eligible Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPCs) will receive an automatic $4,000 in the Operation category of the SERC grant.

Term of Contract:

The grant period is from October 2018 to June 2019.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

LEPCs are eligible for funding through this grant if they are in compliance with the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), Nevada Administrative Code (NAC), and SERC policies.

State Agencies are eligible for funding if they are in compliance with the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), Nevada Administrative Code (NAC), and SERC policies*. Eligibility requirements can be found in SERC policies 8.1, 8.2 and 8.3.

LEPCs are required to submit a hazardous materials emergency response plan for approval by the SERC. Failure to have an approved plan will result in the LEPC being ineligible for funding from the SERC until the next plan review cycle.

Pre-Application Information:

The completed application must be delivered or postmarked by January 31, 2018.

The SERC will consider and make awards to the Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPCs) first. State Agencies may be awarded allocations form the remaining funds available.

Awards for grants will be provided on a reimbursement basis with the ability to request an advance for expenses over $2,000.
